Lloyd’s
8 track player.
Model V150.
Receiver FM and AM bands, combined with the player,
reproducing the magnetic tape recording - cartridge
format "8-track". Made in Hong Konge in 60 - 70-ies.
This format was once widely distributed in the United
States. Since 1964 make many players and tape recorders
in this format, portable, stationary, car. However, the
proliferation of compact cassettes, "8-track" gradually
disappeared, and the last cartridge was sold in the U.S.
in 1982. In the USSR about this format, many do not even
hear. 8 track, - then 8 tracks record, two on each
channel. Ie, the tape there are 4 pairs of track record.
Player Dimensions 220 x 190 x 100 mm. Weight about 2 kg.
Nutrition 9 v, six batteries of type C includes an
internal power supply designed to connect to a network
120 v. All Circuit Boards, including the receiver,
collected 12 transistors, and still works fine. In
general, the apparatus was fully functional, and to me
it seems no one does not climb up, no signs of repair.
Kinematics is very simple. Flywheel, whose axis is the
capstan, is connected to the engine belt. At the
kinematics ends. Everything else, pinch roller, and winding
mechanism are in the cassette. The design of the
cartridge very original, a tape in it is connected by a
ring.
In the tape
has a metallic
insert, required for triggering the sensor automatically
switches channels. Ie, after the loop playback on one
channel, switches to the second (the head is moved in
height), then the third, fourth, and again at first. And
so on to infinity. The cartridge design is clearly
visible in the photo below. Tape is taken from the
middle of winding, and through this movement is wound
around its outer layer. Also, the player has a mechanism
that moves the head in one of 4 of the height for
channel selection. All controls are located on the top
panel. To the left of the switch is a large button
manually select channels. Each press switches on one
channel ahead, and so the circle.

Dimensions cassettes 135 x 100 x 20 mm.
Playback time of one cycle depends on the amount of film
in the cassette. Available I have a tape playing time
within 7 - 13 minutes per cycle.
